Al-Hilal made a strong start in its journey in the Saudi Roshan League for the 2026-2027 season, after defeating Al-Faisaly with a score of 4-2, in the match that brought them together on Friday evening in the first round competitions.
Al-Hilal imposed its control over the course of the match from the first minutes, and Summerville almost gave his team the lead in the 11th minute, after he penetrated into the penalty area and shot a strong ball that collided with the defense. Al-Faisaly.
Al-Hilal succeeded in opening the scoring in the 18th minute, through Karim Benzema, who converted a penalty kick awarded by the referee after returning to the video assistant referee technique.
The second goal did not take long, as Malcolm was able to double Al-Hilal’s lead in the 26th minute, before Ruben Neves added the third goal just two minutes later from another penalty kick, to strengthen his team’s advantage before the end of the first half.
Al-Faisaly tried. Returning to the atmosphere of the match at the beginning of the second half, Alexander Mendy succeeded in reducing the difference in the 59th minute, after taking advantage of a cross from the ground and turning it directly into Al Hilal’s net.
Al-Faisaly’s attempts continued, so Theo Bongonda was able to score the second goal in the 65th minute, taking advantage of a cross that reached behind Al Hilal’s defence, to ignite the confrontation again and give his team hope of a comeback.
But Al Hilal succeeded in settling the match during the last minutes, after Robben returned. Neves scored his second and fourth personal goal for his team in the 82nd minute from a penalty kick, to confirm his team’s superiority and secure the three points.
With this victory, Al-Hilal won the first three points in its Roshen League campaign, while Al-Faisaly began the new season with a loss to one of the most prominent competitors for the title.
